Has anyone installed a 32-bit debian system to replace their current 64-bit system?
Actually, the subject line says it all.
Are there any risks or "gotchas" I should be aware of when attempting to downgrade or replace my 64-bit debian system for a 32-bit system?
I am contemplating re-installing the OS as a 32-bit system, because I am having lots of trouble getting games to work on my system. For example, I have been unsuccessful in getting the new Penny Arcade game to work using the Linux demo, installing and running the game using WINE 1.0 (or whatever the debian version of that is) nor attempting to run the game using the Steam platform running under Wine.
My /home directory is a separate partition. And my music files I can replace if anything goes wrong, since I have the CDs anyway.
Below are my current specs:
Debian AMD64 lenny/sid
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+
GeForce 7600 GT
1G RAM
80G hard drive
