hangs on boot at "Starting hotplug subsystem: pci"

I just installed debian from the netinstall disk image- it installed fine without any errors, but wont boot!

It hangs on
Code:

Starting hotplug subsystem:
    pci

I have installed ubuntu, kanotix, dreamlinux- almost all debian based distros, and this has not happened at all.

I have tried the following:
- booting into single user mode- same result
- adding "nohotplug"- same result
- adding "hotplug=false"- same result
- also "usb=false" and "pci=false"

Thx in advance... i hope :)

Since this doesn't have a reply yet from someone smarter than me, I'll just suggest using the Etch install instead of Sarge (I only assume you have Sarge because Hotplug isn't used any more in Etch, AFAIK). Doesn't exactly fix *the* problem but it might fix *your* problem. :)
