I'm posting this from your latest creation!!
Had to use the 'noapic' parameter to avoid a kernel panic, other than that it booted just fine.Using the i686(non-persistent) currently.
Everything worked out of the box;ethernet connection and even sound!.
Just been blasting out Killswitch Engage's cover of 'Holy Diver'.
The only slight criticism i'd make is that the Trooper wallpaper colours are a bit dark.
Also had you considered adding ntfs-3g to allow access to Windows partitions?.
Just a thought,as it's a rescue cd.
Other than that it's all good.
Great work mate.
thanks, sorry about the wallpaper
I will tell you how to customize the iso you have and you can set it up for you manuaaly
without first installing to hd, and ridding yourself of one of the kernels will save space too
didnt know about ntfs-3g, but will add it
anything else?
note too if you want persistence off cd just make a live-rw file of ? size and it will auto find it at boot
when using persistent option
ver cool
did you logout and check out the other desktops trooper?
user name: user
user passwd: live
user name: root
user paaswd: no passwd
you gotta check out the e17 desktop with spinning debian logo
also
I tried to add many Iron Maiden wallpapers but there huge in mb
um, I also got a script for updateing/upgrading and updateing clamav
I'll give that in a minute as its unfinished
OH
DO NOT do apt-get upgrade, etc if you install to HD!
I forgot to set dpkg to stable!
so, if you install to hd and do synaptic it will tell you to upgarde to lenny backports kernel, etc
dont do it or you will lose both remastersys and live magic!
fix it first by going to synaptic/preferences/ and set it to stable
also, its pretty rough right now so sorry
the desktops are cool though uh?
and also, lxappearance doesn't seem to show up in menus
open a term, type in lxappearance and your good
trooper
tell me iff your gonna make a live-rw for your hd or whatever
and I'll put you down with making/baking a deb live mini cd/usb
using live-helper
just make sure the live-rw is at least 500MB
it will download and I'll I'll tell you how to set it up to add what you want
oh
actually the Ultimate edition themes 2, are quite heavy in mb
I installed it, which also will install a ubuntu splash, etc
I then snatched the ultimate edition folders from /usr/share/themes (Ultimate Edition 2.5 & Ultimate Edition 2.5 Gold) and hid them
in a different theme folder
I then did aptitude purge ultime edition theme etc
and then moved the hidden folders back to /usr/share/themes
it may not work right?
anyway
go look at the apt/sources list
ultimatix repo is ultimate repo
its commented out
you also got the ubuntu satanic repo which has the gtk2-aurora
and stanic icons,etc pretty cool
forgot to add cathbard repo damn it! http://www.cathbard.com/
er...basically, I need to know, in plain speak,
how to add my repo's beforw making it?
it seems very complicated from the material you showed me and stuff...
did you guys see the other e17 wallpapers?
there's a rising sun, orange sun, and 2 other twirly ones I think
oh, any of you guys have upgraded to the Lenny & half/debian backports kernel, etc?
I think its like 2.6.30r something?
I was wondering what the diff was between stable and them?
to be honest: i use live-helper on a very low level.about all the other stuff i don`t know
(besides the links i posted, mainly a)copy the installed version or b) configure it with xnest).
there once was a thread bout adding repos here: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.p...rt=210#p239920
if i recall correct its about adding a what_you_call_it.source and a what_you_call_it.binary into the build_directory (mine is called Live):
Quote:
vi ~/LIVE/config/chroot_sources/what_you_call_it.binary
vi ~/LIVE/config/chroot_sources/what_you_call_it.source
and then its unknown for me. you are on your own.
doing it after unpacking wouldnt work? i guess so, else you would do it. But, as said, i keep it rather simple.
You have the cool grub(?)-menu-background added, the cool splash-screen and what not. All that is way above me.
now i usually go for lh_config --bootstrap copy and thats it.
might be the live-helper mailing list is a good resource...
Yeah, i saw the other wallpapers, they all are very nice, but the default one is a killer.
i too prefer dark-themes, but over at oz-os forum a nice bright one just has been announced
(check for Aubreys last posts)
I`m a bit spare on time (as i started some things related to networking and that, my second system crashed, etc... so i can`t say much more. sorry for that).
keep it up, it looks good .really good
you like e17? or its just a sub-project?
ok
its at 686mb now with lxde/xfce4
gonna try to also shoehorn in the official debian installer stuff
you know if you enable the installer function for lh_config?
as said: i got the feeling you know way more than i. if i know something i will try to help. sure.
your last post/question
Quote:
lh_config *other options* --debian-installer live
???
how did you purge the 486? you know how i may set the keyboard to a german one during lh_conf? (bout the 486 i short ago asked at debian-forum, i forgot if it did work. lol. so: how did you do it?)
if i was you i would check the live-helper mailing-list. i think its a good one (but... i am not that familiar with mailing-lists. oops)
