Google Docs offline not working on Stretch

I just setup my laptop as minimal as possible. Was hoping to avoid libreoffice as I use google for damn near everything. I installed the Google docs offline extension as well as the docs extension to my browser. However when trying to goto Docs from the dmenu (i3 wm) it opens the browser and says no internet available. Doesn't goto offline editing. When I try to click the docs icon in chrome offline, it just loads a blank screen. nothing comes up. At a loss. Do I need to enable some setting?

*EDIT* Forgot, browser is Chromium

Hello I use Google docs too to write my short stories- I cant boot into my Stretch install right now as I'm burning a kernel for Slackware-
I'm also using Chromium

In my Google docs in slackware if I move the cursor over my latest story file it has a little 3dot menu thing at bottom right, click that and see if "available offline" has a checkmark?

Mine was not enabled so I clicked the docs main menu at upper left corner of webpage, hit settings and click to pointer to the right for offline, add extension if necessary- it will prompt you if you need it.

Does that help?
