GNU stdlib C manual pages

I've heard that glibc-doc conflicts with glibc-doc-reference. (I would be laughing if I wasn't crying.) But I did dpkg --extract on the latter (downloaded through a google search) and found that it didn't seem to have manual pages either.

Where do I get files like strncpy.3, open.2?

I can't be expected to remember the arguments for all these functions all the time.

Look in /usr/share/doc. You may have an html based manual. I don't use debian, so I can't tell you what package has the glibc manpages.
I'm surprised that the glibc package didn't include them. You might try using locate. Maybe you have them but your manpath needs updating.

No, I searched pretty thoroughly. But specifically, I want "man manual pages". Not html pages. I don't want to fire up a web browser just to check the ordering of arguments for a particular function in a terminal.

How about info pages. GNU tends to prefer the info system over man pages.

Well, I'd really like the man pages I've had on other systems but I'd settle for info pages. Do you know where to get either?

I believe you want the package "manpages-dev" (Languages other than English require different packages).
