Getting to terminal from within a window.
Hi,
Is there any shortcut to get to the terminal prompt from within a window? For instance, if I browse through my folders in GUI until I find the folder I want and then I would like to get the terminal window with the prompt located in that folder. Something like: /home/user/folder$> Thanks, Glore2002.- |
Most file browsers, nautilus excluded, can do that if you press F4 (konqueror, dolphin, pcmanfm etc).
For nautilus there is the nautilus-open-terminal package/plugin that does just that, but its located on your right click. Quote:

You can even get a browser with terminal intagrated, so when you browse you have a terminal below every time. =)

Open konqueror or dolphin and press F4 to see how it is.
I am on gnome now so I can't take a pic. :( (I really hate it when i look around for relevant pics and I can't find even ONE) ---edit This is what I am talking about http://www.mrowe.co.za/blog/wp-conte...n_terminal.png |
nautilus-actions is a very flexible tool, easily allowing a superset of open-in-terminal's facilities and thus obsoleting open-in-terminal except for very basic functionality. Only gotcha is that you may have to logout and back in before the first nautilus-actions action is effective.

nautilus-actions was the one that worked for me. I was looking for something like F4 but, as you said, it doesn't work with Nautilus. Nautilus-actions is a valid alternative too. Thanks again, Glore2002.- |
