getting file-roller to open .deb files
Hello All,
I installed file-roller for my GNOME only KDE/QT free Debian Sarge installation.i tried installing all archive support on the sytem hoping file-roller will open that i can view control and other files.Help me which package should i install to enable file-roller to open .debs.I know that "ar -x sds.deb" will extract..even in Ubuntu file-roller opens .debs.geeks Help me!

Hmmm. I replied to this yesterday, but apparently I didn't hit "submit post" sorry :-)

Why do you need to open .debs with fileroller? I'm not sure if it's possible. If all you need to do is install a .deb just run the command # dpkg -i <filename>.deb

Thank YOu.But in Ubuntu Breezy Fileroller can open .debs or there any way..

Well, a little googling revealed this

If you just are curious, and you want to take apart a *.deb file,
use "ar" (ar x $filename.deb).
(check out the whole question here)
Haven't used ar, so let me know how it works.

you could unpack it by typing :

dpkg -x filename.deb foldername
