Get rid of OSS

How do I get rid of oss? Do i just go modconf
/kernel/sound/core/oss and disable all and then
/kernel/sound/oss and disable all? When i try to disable cards in /kernel/sound/oss I get
Code:

Removing module ac97_codec...

FATAL: Module ac97_codec is in use.

ac97_codec was not removed.

Something went wrong. You might want to write down the error messages
before you continue. Please press ENTER when you are ready.

Anyone know what I should do? How do I deactivate it to unload it? And is there any other way to uninstall it? This is to get alsa-mixer to work, thanks.

i would use modconf, uninstall and install the one you like.

#modconf

i did before the post. but it wasnt working. The funny thing is that now I rebooted and my sound is working perfectly. It's awesome but strange... i updated discovery before i turned it off and I think it was that. I should have tried that before. Thanks though

there is a difference between discover1 and discover. the latter uses the alsa modules.
