Fvwm still loading old configuration

I'm trying to learn about customizing Fvwm. There are many example configurations online, so I gave one a try. http://pemarchandet.free.fr/fvwm.html It untarred into ~/.fvwm. I renamed the file "config" to ".fvwm2rc" and started fvwm. I decided certain aspects had to go, so I changed the filename back and created a new .fvwm2rc file with just a titlebar setting code segment. Restarted fvwm and it still used the configuration I downloaded. I've tried uninstalling fvwm, deleting every single fvwm-related file, and reinstalling, but it STILL uses the downloaded style!

I just want to get back to the plain vanilla version that appeared the first time I ran it so I can work from there! How do I do that? What it's doing makes no sense. Is this a Debian thing maybe?

Did you also check the fvwm-related files in /etc? Did you apt-get remove --purge?
