FTP : Oh dear, I am lost :)
I guess I installed now almost every FTP Server which is existing on the planat on my Debian box... I am just too stupid.
So far people suggested vsftpd and proftpd but even readin every line from the manual, I just don't get it running. Someone told me that this, what I want, is not even possible: Lets say I have a folder /home/server/ftp which should be accessible by anonymous (read only of course) In addition to that, I need several user with full access to the same folder. No someone told me that this is not possible as ever user (also anonymous) has it;s own homefolder etc... Well, that would be my first question, and 2nd : is there a REALLY good step by step guide to accomplish that ? I mean for some stupid like me, including download, configuration, tweaking etc . ??? Thanks guys Michael |
apt-get install vsftpd follow directions for basic setup then
man vsftpd or head to google....I myself only have used glftpd but configured for a very busy and quite different enviroment.;) |
MasterC has done a very good guide on proftpd which can be found Here
Hope this helps. |
