Fixing the menu bar?? Accidently removed some icons....

Ok so the top menu bar right? The one with the clock and the volume control and all that fancy stuff. How can I reset it to have all that stuff again? I accidently removed those parts when I was having trouble with the resolutions.

Also where can I set the default file managers and such. Eg. I want to use Konquerer instead of file manager. Or I want to use XMMS instead of Media Player C or what not. I am currently using gnome.

And how would I set up some good all network shares? I have tried Samba and it worked awesome except that I couldnt write anything from a Windows system to a linux share and neither could I "map" the linux share in Windows XP. FYI for the newbs like me: I used SMB4k and it worked magic. No hassles whats so ever.

The right panel area is called "notification area", and if you right click on the panel and choose "add to panel" you will find it.

Check out "update-alternatives" for picking default apps.

If you edit /etc/samba/smb.conf, you should be able to allow write access to shares. (man smb.conf)
