does debian install CD have an auto-fix option, like the one in suse linux install CD ?

I damaged my network setup and could not fix it, so, i had to reinstall debian from scratch.

No, it does not. You're better off in Debian with getting a LiveCD and repairing anything you need to from that environment.

You can also use your original install CD as rescue disk. Check the help function once it boots.

If it's any consolation I have read about businesses that believe that it is easier to re-install a hacked server than to fix it.

However, I suspect the command you were looking for is dpkg-reconfigure.

You shouldn't keep a hacked server running without formatting and reinstalling the OS anyway cause you can never know if you really fixed everything.

Not sure about the netinstall but it's easy to check. Just put it in and check how you can boot it.

I'm not sure of the commands but if you hit F3 or so when it starts. Then you can choose special options. Was there a rescue command in there. I'd have to run

rescue root=/dev/hdxx

to use it. But I wasn't sure the netinstaller has it. So it's possible that it doesn't have it.
