This is for the 4.0r1 which keeps hanging on the Loading...

I do not have an /install/floppy/ directory on the disk. I do have a /install.386/floppy/ on the disk. Is the documentation wrong (perhaps written generic) or is the disk wrong?

With that said, should I attempt to install Sarge and upgrade to etch? In reading through the forums it seems there are a lot of suggestions in this direction.

Thanks again...

Documentation (Readme) found on the 4.0r1 CD1:
-----

Programs and other files that are needed for the installation can be found on this disc under

/tools/ and /install/floppy/

For the impatient ones: you can start the installation program easily by booting off this disc. Note that not all (esp. older) systems support this.

You can examine the

/install

directory; you might be able to start the installation system directly from there.

This is for the netinst CD which cannot find the jfsutils-udeb file.

I also have searched the disk and found this file: jfsutils-udeb_1.1.11-1_i386.udeb in the jfsutils folder.

In the initial installation it cannot find jfsutils-udeb.

Could this be a part of the problem?

Thanks
