Firestarter problem
After installing firestarter I try to run the firestarter command from console and get the below error.
How can I fix this ? fat@debian:~$ su Password: debian:/home/fat# firestarter Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Xlib: No protocol specified (firestarter:2687): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: debian:/home/fat# |
you're running it as root under a non-root x server. as your normal user, run "xhost +localhost" and try again.
|
I get
bash: firestarter: command not found. as a normal user. and from the run command. |
add the line:
export XAUTHORITY=/home/your user name/.Xauthority to /ect/profile logout and login |
sux
passwd firestarter |
The firewall was working earlyer by editing the profile file as you said but i just formatted the system and came to get firestarter working again and now its acting up even with that info in the file ie,
If i login to KDE "root" i can install and access the fire walll but befor the firewall would also be active on my user account and pop up on login asking for root password and now it dont so how can i fix this so i get the GUI in my account like befor ? Also the errors are the same as the ones posted above. |
Finnaly got it to work in GUI
The problem is now it loads in the GUI at boot up, but then displays a further (Run as root-KDE su) option and this installs it again into the task bar (2-Firestater) icons. any suggestions how to stop this ? crapper |
