fglrx and gcc version trouble...

New netinstall of etch, tried to "module-assistant" install of ati driver 8.28.2 - "auto-install fglrx". I try and modprobe -v fglrx and it fails. A check of dmesg tells me:

fglrx: version magic '2.6.16-2-686 686 gcc-4.1' should be '2.6.16-2-686 686 gcc-4.0'

Uh-oh. What do I do now?

You install gcc 4.0. Probably, your problem will be solved. I installed and it solved my problem.

Well, that didn't solve the problem... but I got fglrx installed and loaded anyways using:

module-assistant a-i fglrx

It got whatever it needed and installed it correctly - luckily.
