Some people had that problem after upgrade (posted in a spanish lang site forum), and they claim they fixed it uninstalling and installing again xserver-xorg and xserver-xorg-core packages. Try and tell.

Oops!, may be you don't have the xserver-xorg-input-mouse package. Try and tell again.

same question applicable: nvidia or ati? If nvidia, try nvidia-xconfig, and tell me. I don't know ati at all.
EDIT: or try:
sudo aptitude install nvidia-glx ("aptitude"... sorry I forgot you are on Suse)
sudo nvidia-glx-config enable

To have something a little more detailed you have:
For Ati: http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/ati-installer-HOWTO.html
For Nvidia: http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-...ler-HOWTO.html
