Failsafe Xterm Session

After Sunday's upgrade, no matter which session I try to start, gdm fails to
start that session and starts the Failsafe xterm session instead. If I login using the Gnome's failsafe, it works as normal.

So far, I haven't been able to come up with a workaround.

I don't know if this indicates a source of difficult, but the ~/.xsession-errors file
always contains lines like these:

(process:29626): Gtk-WARNING **: This process is currently running setuid or setgid.
This is not a supported use of GTK+. You must create a helper
program instead.

Any ideas on this and how to fix it?

Thnx.

No one else having this type of problem? Guess I'll have to break out the backups...

I decided to remove gdm and from the command line I can run startx to go into regular gnome. I assume its a bug or something with gdm. I tried looking up gnome's bug tracker but couldn't find anything about this issue.

Thnx.
