It could be hardware but there again PCLinuxOS is the only live distro that I've tried that won't run on my Lenovo netbook and I've tried a lot. My first thought after it would not run on my custom i5 box was a corrupted download but no go after I replaced the download several times.

Yes, that's the downloads I have, several of them in fact lol where I deduced a corrupted download, wrongly. Right now I'm on a friends Windows machine and yet again the live CD fails. The error in the no boot splash is always the same: The last thing that worked is "Detecting mass storage devices" and then
Quote:
ERROR:Unable to mount the live cd. Dropping you into a limited shell. Loading /initrd/bin/ash. initrd/bin/ash: Can't access tty: job control turned off. $ random: nonblocking pool is initialised.
What I'm supposed to enter at the prompt is beyond me.

Going straight to install results in exactly the same error.

Quite frankly I've just given up and consigned several PCLINUXOS DVDs to trash. There are plenty of distros which work without any problems at all.
