Experimental/Unstable and future upgrades

Like many people, I've installed Gnome 2.8 from the experimental sources. But what happens when 2.8 makes its way into Unstable (my default branch)? When I do a regular dist-upgrade at that point, will the unstable package versions replace the experimental versions? (I have commented out experimental from my sources, but I think I don't even have to do that, because apt will only use experiemental if you specify it on the command line).

I assume that the eventual unstable (Sid) versions of gnome packages will be more stable than the experimental versions, but won't they have the same version numbers as the experimental versions? And will apt know the difference between experimental packages and the equivalent packages in unstable? Will it choose the unstable versions correctly?

Does this make sense? What I want, eventually, is to have the unstable gnome packages installed once they become available.

If any changes are made to the packages during it's migration to unstable it will show up as an upgrade with apt-get or dselect.
