Arrow Ethernet card incompatibilty..advice needed

Hi,
I have a computer on which I would like to install Debian, but the Ethernet card, a Realtek one, is not supported by the Debian - installer.
Could you give me your feedback about cards you don't have any problem to connect with ?
There's the HCL, I know, but since I'd like to get rid of everything except Debian, I ask the reliable people here...

cheers

Thanks for your reply, masand

here it is : Realtek RTL8201BL-PHY

works with Mandrake or Slackware, not with Debian.

Thanks, masand.
No, there's no support for this card compiled. I have just ordered a
Realtek RTL 8139C PCI Fast Ethernet NIC 10/100Mbs.
New and very cheap !! Should work, I think.
Another question , masand. Should it been assigned an IRQ ?
Do I have to check my BIOS ?

Thxs again

There should be no problem with irq. Try to avoid using slot 1 as they often share this slot with the agp on the irq and it can cause problems on some motherboards.

well RTK 8139 will work for u
that would be surely an easy way out for u if u haven't ever compiled a kernel but i think u will be doing that sooner or later
