Exclamation etch-backports not working..!

hi

i got 4 ntfs partitions in my system, which i need to access in debian-etch.

i am trying to install the ntfs-3g driver, but no success till now.
i have tried several etch-backports mirrors in /etc/apt/sources.lst
all of them return this kind of error>>

Failed to fetch http://backports.sipo.nl/debian/dist...64/Packages.gz 404 Not Found
Reading package lists... Done
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://backports.sipo.nl etch-backports/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/backports.sipo.nl_debian_dists_etch-backports_main_binary-amd64_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

is there any etch-backport mirror that is working fine. i have amd64 etch.
or do i need to install ntfs-3g and its dependencies manually ??

In your 'sources.list' file, I would say use this line, even though it's not a local mirror. When I went to the backports mirror list, all the 'sources.list' lines said 'sarge' instead of 'etch'. This may be your problem... I don't know for sure. Maybe the 'backports.sipo.nl' site only has sarge??
Code:
deb http://www.backports.org/debian etch-backports main contrib non-free
EDIT: also, did you look at the instructions here?
http://www.backports.org/dokuwiki/do...d=instructions
They say you have to specify that you want to get your 'aptitude install' from 'etch-backports' with the '-t' option (t stands for what?) like this:
Code:
aptitude -t etch-backports install "package"
