errors installing webmin due to gnome screen problem?

I'm trying to install webmin here so I can manage my server remotely, but its getting hung up on gnome for some reason. Well yes, I'm installed gnome as well, but I haven't set anything up yet. Mostly because there's no screen attached to that server and I want to try to set VNC up to accept connections, but that's another issue.

The issue here is webmin gets hung up on gnome, which can't open display and for some reason that prevents webmin from being configured.

Code:
Setting up webmin (1.160-1) ...
Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: at /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/FrontEnd/Gnome.pm line 47.

Why does webmin require Gnome to start up before it can be configured? If so I guess I'll have to tackle configuring gnome with no screen attached.

Thanks,
Zac

Sounds like you have configured Debconf to use Gnome frontend. To fix the situation, run (as root) "dpkg-reconfigure debconf" and choose "Dialog" for Debconf frontend. Dialog is an ncurses frontend, so you can use it also in console.
