Error with e2fsprogs while building-deps?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the e2fsprogs problem that I'm getting? What is the error trying to tell me?

Hi,

This topic is covered pretty well in this thread:

Hope it helps you out.
Good luck

So my take on the reading is that the system is trying to go from pre-stable to testing, skipping stable? Is that a valid assesment?

Does that mean if I go to stable then to testing I should be good to go? Exactly which file(s) need to be upgraded? e2fsprogs?

Can I just change the sources.list to stable, run apt-get update, then change to unstable and run apt-get update again?

Thanks for any light you can shed.

I just dealt with that problem 2 days ago, and, ummm, kind of solved it by dumb luck.
My situation is that I installed sarge about 8 months back when it was still testing and haven't really done much in the meantime. What I *think* I did to fix this was switched my /etc/apt/sources.list to stable (well, I know I did that) and then, in aptitude, just re-installed e2fsprogs- I'm still a little shaky with aptitude so I can't say for sure that all I did was re-install it. THere was a lot going on with colors and toggling and it was perhaps too much stimulation for me.

Anyway, I guess that's the same thing as if you just apt-get reinstall, so perhaps I'm adding nothing to this thread.

No, I think your exactly right.

I think I fixed it last night by going back to stable running 'apt-get update' then 'apt-get install e2fsprogs', it updated e2fsprogs and an e2fsprogs lib which was a welcome sign and what the problem appeared to be.

I then changed back to testing and ran 'apt-get update' again and haven't had any problems, well any related to e2fsprogs anyway.

Hopefully this thread will help someone else having the same problem.

Thanks,
