Error- E:Type 'ftp.debian.org' is not known...

I am trying to add the Etch repositories but I keep getting an error:

Code:
Error opening the cache(E: Type 'ftp.debian.org' is not known on line 8 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list
E: The list of sources could not be read.)
I'm not sure what this means, I couldn't find a good explanation anywhere. And also why does the repository manager say the Etch channel is Testing.
Thanks

Solved

I found the apt howto on the Debian webpage and fixed the problem.
Heres the link just in case someone else needs it - http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/ap...basico.en.html
