error during fglrx install

I recently just tried to install the ati drivers with their 70meg installer. I am running Xorg-6.9. I did the first option to "install the driver", then when i ran the installer again to build the debian packages i would get to the point where it was about to build the package and itd error.

Here is a post of my /usr/share/fglrx/fglrx-install.log

Code:
/tmp/fglrx /home/generallee5686/fglrx-install
Package build failed!
Package build utility output:
dpkg-buildpackage: source package is fglrx-installer
dpkg-buildpackage: source version is 8.20.8-1
dpkg-buildpackage: source maintainer is ATI Technologies Inc. <http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html>
dpkg-buildpackage: host architecture is i386
 debian/rules build
dh_testdir
make: dh_testdir: Command not found
make: *** [build] Error 127
/home/generallee5686/fglrx-install
[Error] Generate Package - error generating package : Debian/unstable
Any Ideas?

umm..

Quote:
make: dh_testdir: Command not found
doesn't "command not found" usually mean that the program that was to be run, couldn't be executed because it "wasn't there"? so, if "dh_destdir" isn't a program (I suppose), then that would mean that the command 'make' is not found; test it by running make in console and see if it's found. if not, then install the needed packages (gcc or g++ or whatever is needed..)

I ran make and it was found. I checked in synaptic if GCC and g++ was installed and they were. Do i need g++ 4.0 by any chance?
