Question Elinks won't load most pages

I have essentially a server running the most recent debian, and elinks is being difficult. Some basic websites (ones that have only text, no forms, iframes, etc) work most of the time. Others, especially links I try to navigate to from google, don't work. Either the window will "load" all black, and the statusbar says "OK" like it's done loading, or the transfer speed will steadily drop to 0 bytes/sec and eventually says "error reading from socket". I took an strace of elinks while trying to load facebook (during it, the transfer speed dropped to nothing), and put it in a pastebin: Elinks trying to load facebook

Loading pages in links, links2, or lynx works fine.

Can anyone help me figure out the cause? I grew accustomed to elinks

Would you provide some links to pages that aren't loading satisfactorily? That will help us do some testing.
