Ok, i have just upgraded my rig from an old Athlon 1000 to an AMD64 based system (new mobo/ram/cpu/PS). For years I've used Etch on the old PC. Now I want to try the latest 64 bit version.
My question: What are the drawbacks of loading a 64bit version of Debian? In other words,, what apps, codecs, etc are not yet there? (I've not kept up with things...)
Distribution: Ubuntu, Debian, Various using VMWare

The only things I miss on 64-bit Sid are Flash and (a few) proprietry codecs like WMA and WMV. There is Gnash as a Flash replacement, but it isn't very good for Flash videos like on You Tube.
this blogger says you can just use the 32 bit flash binary in 64 bit firefox. and you can use nspluginwrapper if that doesn't work, and for other netscape plugins too. I'm on i386 though, these links are just FYI.
I downgraded to 32 bit Debian after 2 days when I discovered that there were several packages I needed for desktop setup that simply didn't exist.
