Downloading Debian Wheezy for LinuxCNC and running into install troubles
 

I've used a bootable usb to run this installation. I'm stuck at the point where it's essentially demanding a partition, problem being is: I don't see my hard drive here. It's a Byte 3, with a 30GB hard drive, and it's MIA via this menu. Only gives me the option to partition my USB. I've tried going back to the Debian installer main menu and just selecting other things, but this has to happen first apparently. Obligatory I'm new at this. Thanks for any advice you have for me.

Any particular reason you downloaded Wheezy? It's 2 full releases old now, and while it's still supported by the LTS for a very short time to come (next month it falls completely EOL), any hardware that's even MODERATELY recent may not have support in the kernel.

I'm lost in a fruitless sea of trying to get LinuxCNC to install and have resorted to this. I've tried everything their site recommends, as well as perused their forums for answers, and i'm still at a loss here. Obligatory I'm new.
I've tried:
Bootable usbs (2 of them) utilizing a range of boot software (unetbootin, rufus, windows live booter). The USBs sometimes wouldn't make it to the boot menu with that information. If they did, they wouldn't let me boot to it.
I tried writing to a USB drive via ubuntu's terminal. That loaded the drive, however again, once loaded, it didn't show up in the boot menu.
I've tried utilizing a millions lines of terminal code to build it, that somewhat worked, I have the files however none of the files run the program.
I've tried doing liveboots with a CD too, which again, has the files of the program, but I have no idea what the next step of getting the installation process to come to fruition. So I've regressed even further.

Did you verify the integrity of the .iso file before you made the usb flash drive bootable with Debian?

Did you download Debian from here?

If not I strongly suggest that you do.

If you have to you can run g-parted Live and make 2 partitions manually.
-Make one ext 4 journaling file system partition 25 GB than
-Make another partition, a swap partition of 1 to 2 GB and that should be sufficient for the install.

What is a Byte 3?

According to the linuxcnc website 2.7-wheezy looks like latest version.

IF you haven't already, go into the BIOS under 'boot' and set your pc to boot to usb as the first choice.

Will it not matter that it's not wheezy for the installation of LinuxCNC? They've been seemingly specific on that. Arguably made this process as difficult as possible.

I didn't download it there, i'll try one of these.

1. Can you link to the specs of your hardware?
2. Are you trying to install Debian Wheezy and convert to linuxCNC, or are you trying to install the linuxCNC image? It's hard to tell WHICH image you have based on your posts.

So far i've tried a trillion ways to install on UBuntu 16.04.4 which haven't worked as detailed.

If it is, tell your boss he's smoking crack. That's not going to work on anything with a 3.2.x kernel without a LOT of work.

Huh? WHAT are you actually trying to install???? Ubuntu, Debian Wheezy, or LinuxCNC Wheezy image??? WHICH ONE??
