Downgrading GRUB from 0.97 (etch/stable) to 0.95 (sarge/oldstable)

Hello,

I am using Debian 4.0 (etch/stable) with GRUB version 0.97. I would like to downgrade the GRUB from 0.97 to 0.95 from oldstable (sarge)

How can I do that?

The only downgrading link is this one:
http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Debian/downgrade.html
Downgrading is not officially supported.

As this is only for one package, you could also install manually the .deb.

And then use apt-pinning or put the package on hold to keep this version (echo "grub hold" | dpkg --set-selections)

ps: sorry, I won't test this for you ;-)

Reason why I asked:

If I use a GRUB splash image
Code:
splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/debsplash.xpm.gz
in my menu.lst file and when the GRUB screen appears during boot and if I press "e" to edit a line (say for example the vmlinuz line) I get a train of "============" (and it keeps typing automatically) and all three leds (caps, num, scroll lock) starts blinking. This does not happen in .95

Although I didn't find anything in the Debian Bug report but I did find something similar on Ubuntu Bug Forum
