don't want framebuffer at install

Is it possible to add something to lilo.conf that disables the use of framebuffer?

vga=somenumberhere sets the framebuffer mode in lilo.conf. If you set it to vga=normal it shouldn't use framebuffer. You can for example make 2 settings for lilo, one with framebuffer and one without it, so that if the other one doesn't work you can still boot

then framebuffer was not the problem...

the thing is: I'm trying to install debian on my new laptop. Att boot, dmesg or what is it outouts som einfo, then the VGA mode is changed (the screen turnes black for a second, the the penguin show at he top and morw text comes up as system boots). The this change in VGA mode is done (or whatever it is that is changed) the screen on my laptop turns black - permanently. I have to use an additional notmal monitor to see anything, and THATS what i want to work around. framebuffering was just a guess....

I guess that the problem with the output not showing on my monitor has to do with the widescreen format or something. I know from earier installs on other machines that if I removed certain things from the kernel, this switch in VGA mode did't appear.

Since I cant compile a new kernel yet (install is not complete) I hoped that a switch passed to the kernel or something would disable this feature.
