One of the many monitors listed in Synaptic is computertemp. I have never used it, but its description includes monitoring disc temperature. If I remember correctly, GKrellM also has that option. Conky can probably do it. It can do anything. If you do not like any of those, there is probably something in the plethora of monitors available through Synaptic that will suit your taste.

You could use hddtemp. Using it is as easy as this (as root):

hddtemp /dev/sda /dev/sdb /dev/sdc

I use hddtemp and sensors-applet for displaying the temperatures in the GNOME panel.
