difrent driver cersion prevent using nvidia driver

Hello,...
i'm running debian testing and kernel 2.6.16-2-k7 i have installed nvidia-kernel-2.6.16-2-k7 till now all fine ..

the tricky part is with the glx : there is only nvidia-glx-legacy (afaik it is the old driver) and it should be nvidia-glx.

in other words when i try to run xorg using driver nvidia im getting errors that x driver is 7174 and nvidia is 8762

Which of the drivers are required and which is the newer version, the glx module that came from nvidia or from x?

Do you mean that the required driver is 8762 (nvidia_glx) and the driver that's giving an error is 7174 (nvidia-glx-legacy)? Are you sure you installed the newest version of the nvidia driver?

konsolebox: thnx for the response ..
i upgraded form testing to unstable so i think it was the new one .

i found how to fix it :

apt-get remove --purge nvidia* (to erase all nvidia stuff)
then

apt-get install nvidia-glx from unstable
(after creating a nvidia-kernel using module-assistant).
