Dhcp client request

I am a Linux newbie. I installed debian Sarge on my laptop. I am able to use my wireless card in my laptop using ndiswrapper. Then I configure it using iwconfig. I am now connected to my wireless router. At this time I am letting my router give out addresses using DHCP. My problem is how do I send out a broadcast requesting an address. In windows I could ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. How is it done in Linux. Thanks in advance.

Under debian you will need to restart your card, for ethernet connections you usually restart the dhcp process. If you want to restart your wireless connection then look under /etc/init.d/ look for something pertaining to your wireless cause it will be in there
