I ran xf86 config but still get teh same errors when I try to run startx. Is there something else I need to do before running startx?

I'm getting there one step at a time... I never did the apt-get x-windows-system so I did that and went through the process to the best of my ability, but it cannot find my mouse. It is attached via serial cable.

How do I get it to recognize a serial mouse?

hats off for getting so far.

I assume you have xserver working, a graphical login? And just need the mouse going?

Oh and please post what distro you are using; again if you do not know which version of Debian

Sorry, I have started new threads with each new problem. My latest problem is here . No mouse, but I have the desktop working.

I'm running the latest Debian stable (Sarge).
