Default Debian 3.1R0 Kernel

Hi, I'm new to debian and just installed 3.1R0 with the default kernel, 2.4.x.
Is this kernel compiled with frame buffer console and ACPI (I'm using notebook) support? So that I could just uncomment those in the config file as oppose to recompileing the kernel?

i am probably going to completely through you out of the o reply column for no reason but here goes.

as for

i can not tell you... when i install Debian i follow a set of rules unlike most.
i don't even deal with the default kernel except to get thru the main install of the base system. and then i compile my own version of the kernel.
i really think that this is the best way since the kernel is then modified for your hardware and shouldn't be too bulky for any system. but if you would like to have the instructions for a quick and easy way to compile your kernel for debian you can find the instructions in my sig. there are also a set of instructions for a simple and easy way to install debian and keep it "made for you". good luck.. i just wanted to pass on the info about this great and easy way to compile and to make sure that you have what you want... plus the deb kernel is still kinda old so if you want to jump on up to the 2.6.x then you can do that too.
