debootstrap can't cd to /mnt/debinst

Anyway I'm trying to install debian via bootstrap process in Vbox.
The VM has 2 vhd's .
I'm using the info from here:
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/apds03.html
When I execute this command:
Code:
/usr/sbin/debootstrap --arch i386 squeeze \ /mnt/debinst http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian
I get
Code:
/usr/sbin/debootstrap: 382: cd: can't cd to /mnt

Even though I entered the command above, I should've copied & pasted then changed the ARCH to i386.
The original command that I entered was:
Quote:
/usr/sbin/debootstrap --arch i386 squeeze \ /mnt/debinst http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian
When it should've been:
Quote:
/usr/sbin/debootstrap --arch i386 squeeze \ /mnt/debinst http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian
Now it is running.
The second command has 6 spaces between \ /

Ok I managed to get system up & running using these 2 threads:
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/apds03.html
http://daemonkeeper.net/668/how-to-b...-linux-system/
The system is an active running desktop, I do have a few minor issues to resolve, but they don't affect the operability of the system running.
I installed os in virtualbox using another guest machine & have since released the vhd from that machine system & created another virtualbox guest to attach drive to. It does boot & run.
Issues:
1: /etc/fstab "# UNCONFIGURED FSTAB FOR BASE SYSTEM"
I made the entries using blkid to get UUID & used the "echo" command. I think that I have to make a link to mtab.
2:When in file manager sdb1 & sdb3 show also as media with 2 mountable drives.
3:Since the os was installed to a guest machine, it is now running as /dev/sdb.

Well the listing as media part took care of itself as soon as I disconnected it from the other vm, so it shows as a normal os.
2:When in file manager sdb1 & sdb3 show also as media with 2 mountable drives.

Update-grub & issue # 3 is resolved.
3:Since the os was installed to a guest machine, it is now running as /dev/sdb.

I created fstab & used the "mount -a" command everything seems to be ok.
That takes care of
1: /etc/fstab "# UNCONFIGURED FSTAB FOR BASE SYSTEM"
I made the entries using blkid to get UUID & used the "echo" command. I think that I have to make a link to mtab.
