Debootstrap base package error
I recently got the *testing* net install iso for debian. Unfortunately it gives me a "Debootstrap exited with an error (return value 1)" error when It tries to install the base package, usually folowed by a "can't find these debs:" error. So I flip over to another console and still I can't find an error message.. Tells me to look at /target/var/log/ for the log but that location doesn't exist. I checked my cd for md5sums and all seems fine. My burner has no problems with these sort of things.. but just in case I did a 4x copy of the cd and still nothing... so my guess that it's not the cd.
My partitions are as follows : /boot 50mb swap 400mb / the rest -about 9gb hda1,2,3 - win partitions The linux partitions were made with the debian partitioner. Could someone show me where i did wrong? |
When you partitioned your drive, did you make the root '/' directory bootable or the /boot directory?
|
yes i did
seems that the cd was broken after all. I don't recommend the "testing' netinstalls as they are verry buggy...at least the "current" ones. worked out a nice install with the stable version |
