Debian webserver as secure as possible

well.. im ready to put up a webserver .. this time ill try debian

but i have a few questions.. It will be a basic install with the LAMP stuff

1. do i need to change to Kernel 2.4.31 or could i stick with 2.4.27 ?

2. sort of jail Apache ? how ?

3. other tips?

I have run a Debian Woody server for a year now. It has all the LAMP features. The key to my security has been the firewall on my router which only allows access to apache via port 80 and ntp via port 123. I have kept the packages up to date with weekly apt-get upgrades and in the year have had no problems at all. I do use a second firewall on the server where I exclude certain IP addresses that have tried nonsense on the server.
