debian "upgrade"

I need to upgrade Debian etch to lenny,in this upgrade, mysql will be upgraded too.My question is this full upgrade, may databases is been corrupted??

Data and programs can always get corrupted or be accidentally erased. before you ever do a major upgrade, back up all of your data.

your saying is true and I agree, but I want to know about Debian upgrade and upgrading mysql.

Follow the Lenny release notes and check the BTS for anything mysql related and you should be fine.
