Debian-Stretch as Freeipa-Client

Hello jlinkels,

thanks for you patience, sorry for the confusion.
I compiled the package on Stretch and copied the resulting .deb package to another, clean Stretch system and tried the dpkg and the apt-get command on that Stretch system.
That failed so I converted the first Stretch to Sid ( I think ) by enabling the Sid repo and updating. I could then install, configure and use Freeipa. The only issue so far is not being able to disable users or changing passwords.

edit /etc/apt/sources.list to change to sid from stretch.

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade
apt-get install freeipa-client

if you didn't do the dist-upgrade step you are not fully on sid.

Hello;

good to know I'm still on Stretch.
After some more testing this fully works, except I'm not getting the password expired message in Lightdm.
When the passwd changes in Freeipa, one gets the passwd expired message when logging in from the command line, but nothing in the gui.

I don't think you are still in stretch, as much as you are halfway in between sid and stretch with one foot in each if you didn't complete the dist-upgrade step.
I have no idea what results that may have on system and package stability. I guess time will tell.
