I have three installations of debian sarge. 2 of them or virtual machines running on vmware running on xp pro sp2. The other is a full fledge debian box.
I installed them selected manual package selection and then aborted. Using apt-get I installed everything I need as I needed it. I did this as a learning exp. None of these boxes have X installed
1 is dhcp ( the standalone) and the others are static.
when I ping an address such as
www.google.com
It will intermentinly pause when it continues there is no slow down on the ping times they are identical to the ones above and below the pause so the issue is not latency. when it pauses I can ctrl-c and it does nothing when it unpauses it will finally exit. I have spent the last two day searching google and banging my head against the wall so if anyone has any ideas at all please let me know.
Oh it only pauses when I ping by name if I use the IP life is good. Also other windows and fedora linux boxes on this network ping by name without any issues so its strictly a debian issue.
