Debian on my Laptop.

Hello everyone. I'm expanding my quest to become Windoze free and I need help installing Debian on a Toshiba Satellite 2100CDS. I downloaded the full install iso, CD #1. The first download failed the MD5 checksum, so I downloaded again. The second download passed. I burnt the image, and proceeded to try to install on my laptop. When it starts, it gives me the "Press F1 for help or ENTER to boot:" statement. If I press F1 and type linux26 for the 2.6 kernel, it gives me the following error:

isolinux: Disk error 20, AX = 4235, drive 82

If I just hit enter, it allows me to choose a language, country or region, and a keymap, and proceeds to detect hardware. At the 2% stage, it stalls while trying to load" module 'yenta_socket" for "Toshiba America Info Systems ToPIC97'".

The laptop currently has Windows 98 successfully running on it, so I believe the drive is OK. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
