Debian not detecting my hard drives.

I have a Debian cd (debian-sarge-i386-netinst 02/09/04). When I try to install it on my computer it doesn't detect my hard drive, or as it says "no partitionable media were found".

Now when I insert a Fedora Core 2 cd it finds the hard drives, no problem. Is there some known problem with Debian not detecting hard drives or something?

I thought my hard drive might be damaged or something at first so I bought a new one and put it in but that didn't change anything.

I downloaded the ISO, wrote a cd and tried installing it, it worked like a charm.
