Debian newbie...

I tired of RH and had Debian cds laying around, 3.0 r1 and wanted to give it a go on my Dell Inspiron 5100... I know that installing won't be as pain free as MDK or RH is, but Debian seems rather appealing, despite all the looming hardware conflicts... Long story short, I went through the install process, got it installed, selected what utilties I wanted and packages, and let it go. Unfortunately, I'm unable to get KDE working... any advice?

More details first: Are you using a session manager like kdm. gdm, or xdm?

"Doesn't work" tells us nothing. Are you able to get anything? Or, are you stuck with another Windowmanager/Desktop environment?

If no graphical login, make a file .xsession in your /home Put startkde as the first line and save it. startx
