Debian mirror for sarge install.

Hi Guys.
Well I’m new in here, but I hope this is the right place to post my question.
About a year ago, I installed Debian Sarge on my old and tiny Toshiba Satellite 110CS.
At that time it was possible to boot from floppy, and connect to a mirror over the Internet.

The disk in my Toshiba, mainly used for gnump3d, was running out of space, so I decided to replace it with a larger one. This involved putting the old/small disk in an usb-case on another system
running etch, and cloning it to the new disk using ddrescue.
But something went wrong, maybe because I used GParted to look at the partitions of the disks.

Anyway I ended up having 2 disks that wouldn’t boot. The new one wasn’t recognized by the BIOS, and the old one stopped during boot after fsck of /. - Therefore I decided to do a reinstall of the system.

Lucky I still had my old floppies.
I booted up the installation, and selected a mirror in DK.
But I discovered that the Sarge files/kernels could no longer be found; only the Etchs were there.
Made some new floppies for Etch, but ended up get an error:
(kbd-mode: setting console mode to UTF-8)every time I tried.
Maybe because of the small amount of RAM (24 MB).

Went back to the old Sarge floppies, and selected manual entry in the mirror list.
The selections were: http, manual entry, archive.debian.org, /debian and blank at proxy.
Ending in error: “The specified Debian archive mirror is either not available, or does not have a valid Release file on it.”
Tried changing /debian to /debian/dists/, /debian/dists/Debian-3.1 and /debian/dists/sarge, but all are giving me the same error about the mirror and release file.

What do I do wrong?

Regards Claus

This is pretty much just a guess but as Lenny is now stable and Etch is oldstable, I suppose Sarge, which was oldstable, is now gone!

BTW, welcome to LinuxQuestions. Sorry your first response doesn't offer a solution!

AwesomeMachine

See below, I have tried this one.

Welcome to LQ.

Sorry but : Debian Sarge is obsolete, unsupported and
cannot be accessed any more the way you expect.

All the mirrors at " LQ Download Linux " seems closed
too for 'Sarge'

Spend some hours with Google, you may still find something.

http://archive.debian.org/debian/dists/sarge/Release exists, what exactly did you try in sources.list? use code tags.

If you want an install DVD, I can mail a copy.

According to my index, I should have three different versions:
"August 2004", "Cebit version, Apr. 2005", "Final, Aug. 2005"
....
