LinuxQuestions.org - debian locking at screen but still running

I've just switched back to linux and i'm having trouble, this is the latest kernel, debian updated (unstable). But something is causing my system to freeze, i thought it was locking hard because i couldn't ctrl+alt+backspace or ctrl+alt+f1-9, and the caps lock button doesn't respond.

but i went to another machine in my house and installed putty and i could connect to the said frozen machine. The machine is running fine except that i can only access it from another machine thru ssh. Here are the last few lines of my kern.log file
