Question Debian-Knoppix easy questions.....

Hi you guys,

I am using a Knoppix version 3.3 to connect to the internet using DHCP settings.

Now, I know how to get the info on the ip_address that has been automatically assigned via DHCP, but I am interested in also knowing the gateway and the respective DNS addresses; where should I look for that information? Where on the system would I find it?

Thanks...........

Hi guys, first I would like to thank you for the time spared to help me.

However, like I said, by using 'ifconfig' I can get the IP - NETMASK - BROADCAST info, but what I am looking for is fo the GATEWAY and DNS addresses automatically assigned by DHCP.

Thanks,.....

try:

#route

will give you the gateway

# cat /etc/resolv.conf

for the dns

also:

#netstat -rn
