Debian just worked

I had been trying to get X to work for weeks... then I gave up. I resumed booting to windows... but it's still the 2nd option (lazy to reset the mbr)... but one day I forgot to switch to windows.... and I see the graphical Debian login screen! Gnome worked! lol.... this was cool!

Though, I have NO idea why.

The demonic presence residing inside your computer got bored and left. This happens from time to time.

Have you considered constructing a sacrificial altar?

Angry annoying

I think this is an issue on debian, and I don't like it....

Sometimes, randomly, the system (read debian) acts plain stupid and does unexplicable things....

Examples:
1: mymojo's experience
2: screen issue on my desktop (from time to time the X goes kuku and turns off the monitor, only moving the mouse or pressing keys does the job of turning the monitor back on for _a_split_second_ - only rebooting the machine restores the normal way )
3: issued a few weeks ago a startx command, but the result was "no screen found" although I didn't change anything. more typing, no result. reboot does the trick (I am getting tired of this, it's starting to resemble winblows and I hate it)

Does anybody know if this is a woody issue?

PS.: When does the new stable get released? Any bets?

Sorry to hear you had those problems. I never experienced them though. Debian has worked almost flawlessly( ) on my box from the moment it was installed.

Check out what Martin Schulze has to say about that -->> http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel.../msg00004.html
