Try with Debian Sarge, you would haver kernel 2.6.8 and the instalation is easier. (You are using Debian Woody)

Greetings

The fastest way to go from woody to sarge is modifing the /etc/apt/source.list and changing stable for testing. (if you are using the interent instead of the cds).

but why Debian still developing Woody?

el_pajaro! 04-21-2005 09:37 PM

Because Woody is use for serveres. It doesn't has the latest sofware but is really stable. Sarge has really new sofware and works really well for a desktop. A lot more stable than Mandrake for example. There is sid (unstable) that you have the newest sofware of all. I have not try it yet. From what I know you can have mix between sid an sarge. But I am new to Debian and I haven try it yet. (the mix version)
