debian installer

when new versions of the debian installer comes up, is it better to get the new version or can you use an older version and when you do an apt-get dist-upgrade you get all the updates anyway? for example i have the pre-rc2 version of the isntaller that came out sept 30 and the actual rc2 came out nov 22. should i grab the new rc2 version to reinstall or does it matter? does anyone know when the debian-installer will be released or will it always be release candidates?

thanks. ive been using debian for awhile now, just curious about this

It doens't matter which installer you use. I actually used the Woody BF2.4 installer for my machine. It's running Sarge now. I just did a base install, adjusted my apt sources-list to point to the the Sarge archives and did a dist-upgrade. Works great.

thats what i thought. so i guess the upgrades to the debian installer are just for it, to fix issues with the installer
